This bike runs excellent. Comes with the iconic sound of the Vance and Hines Grenades exhaust, the best looking and sounding exhaust system on any Indian Scout. It has a few flaws here and there but still a very good looking bike for little money. The major question is, how many miles does this bike have. We do not yet have an answer here but are trying to shed some light into this by contacting the previous owner. The early Indian Speedometers are prone to get water damage from sitting outside in the rain and water seeps into the housing shorting out the odometer and at times the entire unit, which is the case here. We hope to get some answer from the previous owner. Going by condition best estimate is between 10K and 20K. New speedometer is ordered but not part of the sale. If you want the one we ordered add $400 to the price. Once we receive it, we will change the price to mid 5Ks.

The oldest motorcycle company in the US is not as most people believe Harley Davidson but Indian Motorcycle Company. Founded in 1901 two years before Harley they have been making classic iconic motorcycles for decades. During WWII the company was an essential supplier of motorcycles to the US military and after the war struggled in making the transition back to the civilian market. Their operation came to an end in the early 50s. The company was bought by Polaris in 2011, who just a few years earlier started the very successful “Victory” brand.

Polaris invested a lot of money in designing a new frame and a brand new engine for just this bike. Two years later the Chief was introduced followed a year later by the Scout. Classic lines of the long swooped fenders and the icon war bonnet on the front fender with exceptional built quality made the new Indian a feared competitor to Harley Davidson who did not have much competition before in the domestic market.
