Powered by the air-cooled 100-cubic-inch (1638cc) 45-degree Powerplus engine with its distinctive rounded and serrated rocker boxes, the Vintage is essentially the standard Chief with special touches, The seat is covered in four-ounce leather embossed with the Indian script. The saddlebags include water-resistant liners and are constructed from eight-ounce leather. They wear chrome-plate buckles and buttons and leather fringe. Their tops are embossed with the Indian script. Other touches include die-cast tips for the trademark deep-valence fenders, and an ornate die-cast aluminum horn cover over the low-tone Fiamm horn. It uses the same chassis as other Chiefs, which includes rising-rate rear suspension, Paioli 41mm fork legs, and 130/90-16 whitewall tires on wire-spoke rims with four-piston Brembo brakes.
