I got this Sportster in 2004 from a friend. He bought it brand new in 1994 and in
that 10 years he owned he only put 1600 miles on it. While he owned it, it was
always garage kept and maintained. Since I took ownership, I rode it a lot, putting
on 15,000 miles in 10 years. This little Sporty has been good to me and I've had
a lot of fun on it. It has been stored in a garage and/or outside covered during
my ownership. Twice a year it would get a complete maintenance check over
and that included: Oil Change, Plug change, Brakes, Fluids (including tranny), Bulbs,
Tightening and full cleaning. This is a trustworthy bike and one that I can rely
on. And, for a 20 year old bike of this type I can't complain about it's operation.
I had planned on doing a Carb rebuild this winter, not that it needed it, but
why not. I will give the buyer the rebuilt kit that I bought.
The paint has some scratches here and there, there is one chip in the
paint on the tank where the original buckhorn handlebars hit it.
The paint is a little faded, but I suppose that is what happens to paint this old.
The aluminum on some parts is tarnished and attempts were made to clean that
with no success. The majority of the chrome is good, there are some pitting
spots but none that I would call horrible. The battery is the original battery, the previous owner
never replaced it and I've never replaced it. I just tighten the bolts once in a while and it keeps going.
It's a good little bike and I've been commuting with it 100 miles a day from
September to the end of November with it. If it was nice out, I was riding it.
I NEVER rode it in the rain. It's never been dropped or in any accident, EVER.
This thing has been my little buddy and I'll miss it.
BUT, I just bought a Heritage Classic and honestly, I'll never ride the Sportster again.
So here is your chance to own a great little bike. Perfect for the first timer or the little lady.
The bike weighs just under 500 lbs and easy to pick up or push.
