I purchased this bike in 1992 from a co-worker and have owned it ever since. It had approx 10K miles on it at that time. I put on another 17K on the bike and was working at S&S cycle doing field service (about 1999) and got a 96" engine from them and installed it into the bike. They assembled the engine while I was on site and I installed it into the bike. Since, approx 9K was put on the bike with the S&S engine. I do not ride the bike anymore and decided to sell it. I believe this was the first year of the softail custom model and has the solid polished rear wheel.

It is in very good condition for its age and goes quite a bit faster than a stock softail. It is quite enjoyable to drive and a great bike for cruising. It has always been adult driven (myself and previous owner). I have not had any major problems with the bike except small things or routine maintenance. I still have most of the reciepts from the parts and service done to the bike.

At this time the bike is ready to drive and I do take it out on some weekends for a few miles. It comes with the stock mufflers, the aftermarket mufflers that are on the bike now, set of drag pipes, willy and max saddlebags, detachable memphis shades windshield, orignal owners manual, and a harley factory service manual. All things are in very good condition.

There is also some paperwork that came with the S&S engine. I have ran Amsoil in the engine, primary, and 5 speed transmission for a few years now, and the bike has always been well kept.

All of the paint and chrome is not in perfect condition, it is very good though for its age. The bike did fall over in the garage a long time ago and put a scuff on the tank and there is some small chrome peeling on the rocker box covers.

There are no dents on the bike or rips in the original seat. The only thing that does not work is the turn signal indicators on the dash are disconnected (2 small bulbs by the speedometer). I burned out a few bulbs and decided to disconnect the wiring fearing there was a short somewhere. This was done many years ago.

If you are interested in the bike for a lesser price I would consider replacing the S&S engine with a stock good running evolution motor. The evolution motor is in my 91 ultra classic that you can hear run. In that case I would let the bike go for $5,500.
