Greetings, the next paragraph was the original listing. I have now had a bummer situation happen this weekend (9-17-21). Starting it up while leaving work, the rear head gasket blew. No breach of the oil containment or system but compressed air blowing out on my left leg. I'll drop $4000 off the bike to $8500. You could do a basic repair and have a great deal, or beef up the motor a bit and still have a good value, or have the most outrageous, biggest S&S motor installed in a nice chassis. The options are limitless. I'm the second owner and have owned it 7 years this month. I have owners manual from previous owner and they maintained it religiously at Harley then on their own. Originally bought from San Diego. Below are pics of the good gasket then a couple of the bad one. May take offers or park it for 15-20 years and it will be worth 12,500 with the repair still needed........lol.....
Six inch over Paugco springer front end with three degrees extra rake, which gives it a total of seven degrees extra rake from stock. (Factory springers of that era were de-raked four degrees). Bike has many brass and gold plated parts of the era. Dakota speedo that could have sensors added to also show oil temp/pressure etc. Main features digital speed, tach, neutral light, current gear selection and auto-dim. Rims have twisted spokes. Sixteen inch rear with twenty one inch front. Separate headlight switch to start with it off, park lights remain on. Lower headlight low beam, upper high beam. Two imperfections on front fender, one on rear along with other minor scratches from age. Original paint and decals. Original 'softail' seat and a 'badlander' seat I was going to cover tan down the road. Tan saddle bags with EZ Lock bracket system. A brown swing arm bag. Starter switch failed awhile back now has the button on the starter. Rider and passenger have mini floorboards, driver also has ancient mustache highway bar. Inch and a quarter Burly handlebars. Last year of the Evolution motor (1340cc/80ci) with 5-speed tranny. But wait, that's not all, also included is the original Harley-Davidson springer front end with quick release windshield! Text any other questions or concerns to 775-232-9929. Thanks much.....Peace....Dale. There is now a youtube video of this bike, just search 1998 FXSTS for sale, the thumbnail pic is the golden eagle on the fuel tank....
